Crabbing & Clam Digging
Interested in a feast of fresh Dungeness crab? Well a net, a bucket, a license, and a low tide is all you need during the summer months to wade out in the surf and scoop them up!
Try your luck going after the elusive razor clam. North Beach is home to this delectable fellow, who is so fleet of foot that he can dig one vertical foot in 10 seconds when aroused! A fun challenge at low tide for the whole family, and one that is amply rewarded by its sweet and rich flavour of this, the king of all clams
Other clams such as cockles and butter clams do sometimes wash up on our beaches in the fall, but these clam beds occur in the lower reaches of rocky reefs and are not as easily accessible.
